Job summary

The University of Hong Kong invites applications to join the JC STEM Lab of Nanomedicine for Advanced Therapy in Pharmacology and Pharmacy. We work on a nose-to-brain hydrogel delivery platform to treat neurodegenerative diseases and recruit postdoctoral fellows and research staff to design and evaluate novel peptide analogues and biodegradable hydrogels.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences or related field with strong publication record.
• Experience with peptide or nanomaterial-based therapeutics.
• Excellent scientific writing and publication history.

Responsibilities

• The candidate should be competent in peptides and hydrogel syntheses and bioconjugation reactions, along with purification and structural characterisation of synthesised compounds.
• Proficiency in analytical instrumentation including HPLC, LC-MS, 1H-NMR, GPC, and SPR.
• Design, cross-link, and characterise polymer-based nanomaterials and hydrogels, evaluating physicochemical properties.
• Core biology skills: ELISA, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and cell-based assays; cell culture.
• Conduct animal studies including dosing, sample collection, PK sampling, and behavioural assessment in ethical framework.
• Collaborate with collaborators on model development, sample sharing, and data analysis.
• Prepare study protocols, reports, and contribute to manuscript writing.
• Supervise and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• Disseminate findings through publications and conference presentations.
