Job summary

International Christian School (ICS) in Hong Kong invites applications for a Middle School Physical Education Teacher starting July 2027. The role focuses on health, athletics, and a Christ-centered learning environment, with a vision to inspire students through sport and character formation.

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Education, Health & Physical Education, recognized teaching qualifications, and a minimum of two years’ PE experience, including aquatics.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Education, Health & Physical Education or equivalent awarded by an accredited university.
• Recognized teacher qualification (e.g. BEd, PGCE, PGDE or equivalent) with supervised teaching practicum.
• Minimum of two years of relevant experience teaching physical education, including aquatics/swimming programmes, at the middle or secondary school level.
• Experience coaching a variety of sports teams at the secondary level.
• Current certification in First Aid, CPR and aquatic lifesaving qualifications (e.g. Bronze Medallion), or willingness to obtain such qualifications within an agreed timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain a positive learning environment that promotes positive relationships, and contributes to the intellectual and spiritual growth of students.
• Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons that align with the school’s curriculum policies to provide clear objectives and learning outcomes for Health and Physical Education.
• Enthuse and motivate students, inspiring participation and raising levels of attainment.
• Help to raise the profile of sport across the Middle School.
• Implement standards-based grading and assessments that facilitate effective feedback according to students’ proficiency levels for specific knowledge and skills standards.
• Promote the welfare of children and support ICS in safeguarding children through relevant policies and procedures.
• Maintain regular communication and trust with parents in a welcoming, engaging, and collaborative manner.
• Work effectively and efficiently with other faculty members in grade and subject teams.
• Participate in administrative tasks that are core to the school’s operation, such as curriculum management, service on committees, as well as engagement in co-curricular activities.
