Part-Time/part-time Mechanical Engineering Intern
Orange Biotech Limited is an innovative biotechnology company developing next-generation molecular diagnostics and point-of-care testing systems. We are seeking an MSc Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline) student or UG with project experiences to support the mechanical design and manufacturing development of our diagnostic device.
The role will involve assisting in the drawing and design of microfluidic diagnostic devices, preparing and revising engineering drawings from existing CAD designs, and supporting prototyping, manufacturing and design-for-manufacture (DFM).
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the mechanical design and development of microfluidic diagnostic devices and associated components.
Prepare detailed mechanical engineering drawings.
Update CAD models and drawings following design changes and supplier feedback.
Help prepare components for machining, injection moulding, bonding and other manufacturing processes.
Review drawings and component interfaces to identify fitting, tolerance and assembly issues.
Organize CAD files, drawing revisions, BOMs and manufacturing documentation.
Work with the R&D team and external manufacturers to resolve mechanical design and DFM issues.
Requirements
Currently pursuing or recently completed an UG/ MSc/post graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or a related field.
A minimum of 1-year relevant experience.
Proficient in 3D CAD software, such as SolidWorks.
Able to produce clear and accurate engineering drawings.
Good understanding of dimensions, tolerances, fits and common manufacturing processes.
Experience with injection moulding, machining, bonding or prototype manufacturing is an advantage.
Detail-oriented and able to work independently on clearly defined engineering tasks, with good documentation practices.
