The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field and at least 5 years of experience in electrical product compliance.

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in product compliance, certification, or quality assurance within manufacturing or electrical industries.
• Solid knowledge of international compliance standards and certifications for electrical products.
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks across Asia-Pacific markets.
• Proven experience managing relationships with certification bodies and regulatory authorities.
• Excellent project management, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with compliance management systems and documentation software.
• Excellent written and verbal English; Mandarin proficiency is advantageous.

About the role

Defond Electrical Industries Limited is seeking a Manager - Product Compliance & Certification to join our Engineering team. This is a full-time position based in Tai Koo, Eastern District. In this strategic role, you will oversee the product compliance, certification, and regulatory adherence across our manufacturing operations. You will be responsible for ensuring that all products meet international standards and regulatory requirements, whilst managing relationships with certification bodies and regulatory authorities. This position is critical to maintaining our reputation for quality and supporting our business objectives in an increasingly regulated marketplace.

Key responsibilities

Develop and implement comprehensive product compliance and certification strategies aligned with international standards and regulatory requirements

Manage the certification process for new and existing products, including liaison with external certification bodies and accreditation authorities

Conduct risk assessments and compliance audits to identify potential regulatory gaps and implement corrective actions

Maintain detailed compliance documentation, records and certificates for all products in the portfolio

Stay current with evolving regulatory requirements and industry standards across key markets

Monitor regulatory and standards updates and provide guidance to engineering and project teams on compliance impacts

Collaborate with product development, manufacturing and quality teams to ensure compliance is embedded in product design and production processes

Prepare and present compliance reports to senior management and external stakeholders

Manage supplier compliance and ensure adherence to contractual compliance requirements

Represent the company in meetings with regulatory authorities, certification bodies and industry associations

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality management, regulatory affairs, or a related discipline

Minimum 5 years of professional experience in product compliance, certification, or quality assurance within manufacturing or electrical industries

Demonstrated knowledge of international compliance standards and certifications relevant to electrical products

Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks across key markets, particularly Asia-Pacific regions

Proven experience managing relationships with certification bodies and regulatory authorities

Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple compliance projects simultaneously

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail

Proficiency in compliance management systems and documentation software

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is advantageous
