Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above.
• At least 10 years of deposit operations experience in commercial banking.
• Good knowledge of HKICL, cheque clearing, auto-clearing systems and FPS real-time payments.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to advise stakeholders.
• A pleasant personality with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Good written and spoken English and Chinese, especially Mandarin; MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily retail banking transactions including deposits, transfers, time deposits and cheque clearing.
• Review and monitor electronic and auto-clearing systems for accuracy and timeliness.
• Address customer and unit enquiries with professional advice on deposits and clearing.
• Collaborate with other departments to improve efficiency and controls.
• Train and develop the team; drive process improvements and service quality.
• Prepare operational and performance reports; participate in UAT, projects and ad hoc tasks.

Job description

Join a bank in Hong Kong as Manager – Deposit & Clearing Operations in its Transactional Banking Unit. You will lead the deposit operations team and make sure retail banking transactions, payments and clearing are processed accurately, on time and in line with regulations.

About the Role

This role suits an experienced commercial banking operations professional with deep knowledge of deposits and clearing, and experience leading a team. You will oversee daily processing, train and guide your team, and work with business units and other departments to improve efficiency and controls. Immediate availability is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily retail banking transactions, including cash withdrawals and deposits, fund transfers, time deposit applications, FPS transactions and cheque clearing.
• Review and monitor electronic and auto-clearing systems, making sure transactions are settled accurately and on time.
• Handle enquiries from customers and business units, and give professional advice on deposit and clearing matters.
• Work with other departments to improve operational efficiency and make sure work follows the relevant rules and regulations.
• Train and develop the team, and drive continuous improvement in processes, accuracy and service quality.
• Prepare regular operational and performance reports for management, and take part in system UAT, projects and ad hoc tasks.
