Job summary

Hong Kong Institute of Construction invites applications for a Part-time Lecturer in Quantity Surveying. The role involves teaching related subjects, developing articulation plans, and liaising with construction firms and educational bodies to tailor training programs.

Qualifications

• Recognized degree in construction-related disciplines or corporate membership of an appropriate professional institution.
• Minimum 7 years’ post-qualification relevant experience in quantity surveying, preferably with training experience and HKQF articulation vision.
• Experience in programme design and documentation work under the HKQF would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of BIM and MiC would be an advantage.
• Experience in project management and implementation would be an advantage.
• Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills; network with stakeholders would be an advantage; and a good command of written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• To conduct teaching in Quantity Surveying related subjects and organise activities for courses including site visits.
• To develop plans in courses / programmes articulation and liaise with stakeholders for collaboration and implementation of new training courses.
• To prepare training materials to comply with training requirements and industry development.
• To devise and implement new training courses and update course content.
• To carry out studies and prepare plans and proposals for the construction industry.
• To perform secretariat duties for related working groups and meetings when required.
• To undertake HKQF-related duties and other duties as assigned by the Executive.

Job description

Lecturer - Quantity Surveying (Part-time)

• a recognized degree in construction-related disciplines or corporate membership of an appropriate professional institution; postgraduate qualification will be an advantage;
• a minimum of 7 years’ post-qualification relevant working experience in quantity surveying, preferably with experience in conducting training and with a good vision particularly in courses and / or programme articulation and / or Hong Kong Qualifications Framework (HKQF);
• experience in programme design and documentation work under the HKQF would be an advantage;
• a comprehensive and latest knowledge of technology in construction industry or training related areas, and knowledge in BIM and MiC would be an advantage;
• experience in project management and implementation would be an advantage,
• strongly self-initiated and good analytical skills;
• a high level of integrity and a strong sense of responsibility;
• strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills; effective network with stakeholders in construction industry or vocational education and training would be an advantage; and
• good command of both written and spoken English and

Duties include

• to conduct teaching in Quantity Surveying related subjects and to organise all necessary activities for courses including site visits etc.;
• to develop plans in courses / programmes articulation and liaise with relevant stakeholders, including construction companies and educational and / or vocational training institutes, for possible collaboration and implementation of new training courses; and to liaise with the industry on the provision of tailor-made training courses;
• to prepare training materials to comply with the training requirement and development of the industry;
• to devise and implement new training courses, and to update course content;
• to carry out study and to prepare plan and proposal in connection with construction industry;
• to perform secretariat duties for related working groups and any other relevant meetings when required;
to undertake duties related to the HKQF; and
• to carry out any other duties as assigned from time to time by the Executive
