Job summary

Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong is seeking a lead engineer to own a defined programme across Stockloan Trading and lifecycle platforms. You will guide cross-functional teams, design services for trade capture, inventory and processing, and drive platform renovation with strong architectural judgment.

You will collaborate with Trading, Operations and Product, mentor engineers, and ensure production readiness with automated tests and secure coding practices. Fluency in English is essential.

Qualifications

• 7+ years hands-on server-side development in Java or Scala.
• End-to-end software delivery ownership of a substantial application or programme.
• Experience with distributed systems, messaging, data consistency.
• Ability to work with trading, financing, lifecycle or transaction-processing systems.
• Clear written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery of an assigned programme or work area, including scope, plans, dependencies, quality and production readiness within agreed business and Technology priorities.
• Work with Trading, Operations and Product to analyse trading and lifecycle workflows, clarify requirements, identify exceptions and agree acceptance criteria.
• Design and implement services for trade capture, inventory and position flows, returns, recalls, re-rates or related lifecycle processing and integration.
• Lead a defined renovation workstream, contributing to phased migration, interface design, reconciliation and compatibility with existing systems and controls.
• Make well-reasoned engineering decisions within agreed architecture; seek guidance on complex trade-offs or changes affecting other programmes and teams.
• Guide engineers through implementation and code review, share domain knowledge and coordinate work within the delivery area. Where assigned, manage and develop staff in that area.
• Maintain automated tests, secure coding, observability, release and recovery practices; investigate production issues and deliver sustainable fixes.
• Communicate regularly with product and technical leads, explain solution options, identify improvements and escalate dependencies or risks early.
