Job summary

Bullish is an institutionally focused global digital asset platform building a high-performance trading infrastructure in Hong Kong. The Trading Platform Engineering team designs low-latency systems at the intersection of software and hardware, requiring deep Linux kernel, networking, and distributed systems expertise.

You will work on high-speed services, kernel and user-space components, and profiling-driven optimization to meet strict latency goals in a global environment.

Qualifications

• Expert-level proficiency in Java.
• Deep understanding of Linux kernel internals including memory management and schedulers.
• Experience optimizing end-to-end latency in low-latency systems.
• Strong networking knowledge: sockets, epoll, io_uring, RSS, NIC queues.
• Understanding of sequencer-based total order and distributed systems tradeoffs.
• Solid concurrency and memory-model knowledge; write safe, fast code.
• Focus on measurement with benchmarks and profiling to drive decisions.
• Commitment to high code quality, peer reviews, and clear documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize high-performance systems using Java and C.
• Develop kernel and user-space components focusing on memory, I/O, and networking paths.
• Build and tune networking pipelines (multicast/unicast UDP and TCP) and fast-path networking.
• Optimize Linux kernel subsystems such as memory management, schedulers, drivers, and filesystems (VFS).
• Pursue deterministic latency via CPU isolation, NUMA locality, and lock-contention reduction.
• Apply distributed systems patterns for total ordering and consistency.
• Use perf, strace, eBPF, and flame graphs to identify bottlenecks and resolve issues.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver robust production systems with clear SLOs.
