Job summary

Bullish is seeking a senior Java backend engineer for the Trading Product Engineering team. You will design and implement core distributed services powering the Bullish Exchange, focusing on correctness, performance, and reliability in a high-stakes trading environment.

You will work across a distributed team, tackle complex state transitions, and drive automation and testing practices to ensure scalable, robust systems. Familiarity with AI integration and modern Java stacks is a plus.

Qualifications

• Strong Java (17+) fluency and low-latency design experience.
• Proven ability to build high-throughput systems.
• Experience with AI tooling and SDLC automation.
• Familiarity with middleware and messaging systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver reusable, reliable, low-latency Java code powering the Exchange.
• Raise the bar on code quality, organization, and automation as the system scales under load.
• Profile and resolve performance bottlenecks in the order-processing path.
• Improve stability through automated tests at unit, integration, and performance levels.
• Collaborate across a distributed team of engineers, product managers, and project managers.
