Job summary

Matilda & War Memorial Hospital is seeking a dedicated kitchen assistant to support cooking teams in ingredients preparation and safe handling of food. You will help chefs maintain hygiene, assist with logistics across stations, and learn culinary techniques for daily hospital operations.

The role requires a diploma or vocational culinary training and 1–3 years of relevant experience, preferably in hotels or private hospitals. A competitive remuneration package is offered.

Qualifications

• Diploma or vocational training or culinary school certificate.
• 1-3 years’ relevant experience in western/Chinese kitchen settings.
• Proactive and well organized with attention to details.

Responsibilities

• Support cooking teams in ingredients and food preparation.
• Adhere to goods preservation standards and proper handling.
• Assist chefs to maintain hygiene, safety and clean work areas.
• Provide backup support to cleaning / cashier / meal delivery teams.
• Support kitchen logistics across stations during busy service hours.
• Prepare food expiry labels and check expiry dates and replenishment.
• Provide administrative support to the Chief Chef when needed.
• Learn culinary techniques to support daily operations.
