Job summary

The H.O.P.E. Support Service Centre for Ethnic Minorities is seeking an interpretation and translation specialist to provide services in the office, at outreach locations, or at venues assigned by the Team Leader.

You will also handle written translation and ensure adherence to the centre's principles and goals. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent, plus EM language fluency and strong English are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above, or equivalent.
• Fluent in at least one EM language; strong English ability.
• Proficient in written and spoken communication.
• Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Capable of performing under pressure and meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

Duties

• Provide interpretation services in the office, outreach or at any venue assigned by the Team Leader.
• Provide written translation as assigned by the Team Leader.
• Ensure compliance and consistent adherence to the principles, ethnics and target goals set.

Requirements

• Preferably with relevant work experience in translation / interpretation or customer service / social service.
• A recognized Bachelor's degree or above, or at least 3 passes or above in Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE) / at least Level 3 in 3 subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination or above, or equivalent.
• Fluent in at least one EM language, preferably in Hindi, Punjabi, Bahasa Indonesia and Tagalog.
• Good command of oral and written English.
• Demonstrate a positive and self-motivated attitude and able to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadline.
• Able to work in a multicultural team and in a work environment.
• Proficient in computer skills and MS Office.
