Job summary

ALSTOM Hong Kong Limited in Hong Kong is seeking an Installation Engineering Leader to join our signaling and infrastructure team. You will organize, lead and coordinate IE studies and activities, ensuring end-to-end field installation and successful project delivery.

The role requires a degree in engineering, at least 7 years in signalling installation design with 2 years in leadership, and strong knowledge of Civil/Trackwork/E&M interfaces and Hong Kong MTR practices.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree is required.
• At least 7 years of experience in signalling installation design, with at least 2 years in leadership.
• Strong understanding of interface processes between Civil / Trackwork / E&M works and rail sub-systems.
• Strong knowledge of railway signalling hardware and Hong Kong MTR practice.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing directions and priorities in a project environment.

Responsibilities

• Forecast and manage the list of deliverables with related schedule and workload.
• Ensure deliverables comply with project execution requirements and local regulations.
• Support field teams to review deliverables and prepare design modifications or change requests.
• Organize design drawing transmittals and obtain site approvals.
• Lead Civil / Trackwork / Electrical interface drawings and space allocation.
• Coordinate with BIM Coordinators for common IE studies and deliverables.
• Monitor access dates to interface provisions and satisfy contractual requirements.
• Prepare installation material specifications and BoQ.
• Review and manage documentation cycles (internal and external).
• Report progress of document delivery per schedule.
• Identify risks and propose mitigations for IE activities.

JOB SCOPE:

In compliance to EHS (Zero Deviation) and Regulatory standards, the Installation Engineering Leader organizes, leads, and coordinates the IE studies and activities, in coordination with the installation management, design teams, interfacing parties ensuring integration on field and installation of the complete System. He/she has end-to-end accountability at project level on below tasks, together with the IE engineers under his supervision:

Responsibilities

• Forecast and manager the list of deliverables with related schedule and workload, also in accordance with the reference library (analysis of reusable documents, gaps, …)
• Ensure the deliverables are prepared in in accordance with the project execution requirements: customer, installation subcontractor, local regulation, …
• Support the Field team (Installation Supervisors, Sig Project Site Managers, Sig Installation team Leaders, etc…) to understand and review the deliverables and prepare design modification or change requests following inputs from site
• Organize design drawing transmittals from design team to installation team and request for site team approvals.
• Leader the Civil / Trackwork / Electrical interface drawings (e.g. Station building drawings, track layout drawings, ...) and provide Sig equipment requirement for space allocation & applicable provisions
• Liaises with BIM Coordinators to coordinate common Installation Engineering studies and deliverables
• Monitor and negotiate access dates to interface provisions and ensure the company’s contractual requirements are satisfied.
• Prepare Installation material specifications & Installation BoQ
• Study specific signalling hardware to prepare for typical installation design drawings for site team to use.
• Analyze mechanical design and utilize provided software to justify the design integrity.
• Manager the review cycle of the documentation (Internal and external: Customer, Subcontractor, …)
• Report on the progress of the delivery of the document to be provided as per schedule
• Support the Installation Management for QCD review of the IE activities, including Risk identification and mitigation proposal and Man, Machine, Method and Material Checklists
• Interfaces with other Project stakeholders – internal or external - for getting needed data, for delivering the IE
• Identifies and reports on issues on document and drawing delivered and provide REX on main route cause of issues and on reference library evolution
• Performs Site Surveys during preparation and execution phase (if necessary)
• Ensure application of D&IS Installation and FO Process for Installation Engineering activities

Experience

• Degree in Engineering
• At least 7 years of experience in signalling installation design, with at least 2 years of leadership experience
• Strong understanding of interface processes between Civil / Trackwork / E&M works and rail sub-systems
• Strong knowledge of railway signalling hardware and Hong Kong MTR practice on metro or mainline applications
• Team spirit approach and good communication and negotiation skills
• Possess the agility to adapt to change in direction and priorities in a project and deadline-oriented environment
