Infra Support Engineer(Database & Middleware Platforms)
Responsibilities
Database Administration & Protection
- Provide day-to-day administration, monitoring, and tuning of transactional database environments, focusing on centralized PostgreSQL platforms and legacy architectures (Oracle/DB2).
- Execute data protection strategies, including configuring Point-In-Time Recovery (PITR), managing role-based access controls (RBAC), and securing database audit trails.
- Assist in legacy database migration initiatives, ensuring minimal downtime and post-migration validation checks against core banking metrics.
Middleware Lifecycle Management
- Support the installation, configuration, patching, and tuning of enterprise middleware applications (WebSphere, MQ, Tomcat, NGINX, or IIS).
- Manage high-availability middleware clustering, traffic routing, load-balancer integration, and SSL/TLS certificate updates.
- Investigate and resolve performance bottlenecks occurring between application tiers, middleware web servers, and the database back-end.
BAU Operations & Project Support
- Participate in application stack upgrades, database engine major version bumps, and application migration project workstreams.
- Author and refine database maintenance scripts (SQL, PL/pgSQL, shell) to automate routine cleanups, indexing, and health checks.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, including schema architectures, database recovery playbooks, and middleware configuration baselines.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a production Database Administrator or Middleware Engineer in an enterprise environment.
- Strong hands-on experience administrating PostgreSQL database engines along with enterprise web/message queuing middleware (WAS, MQ, or NGINX).
- Certifications in Database Administration (e.g., PostgreSQL Certified Engineer, Oracle OCA/OCP) or relevant Middleware platforms are a distinct advantage.
- ITIL Foundation certification is preferred.
