Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or above in a quantitative discipline is required.
• Strong knowledge of index construction and ETF product development.
• Experience in index research, development, and passive investment solutions is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of innovative index solutions across asset classes (equities, fixed income, thematic, smart-beta, multi-asset).
• Develop proprietary index methodologies from concept to implementation and tailor solutions for clients.
• Collaborate with external index providers to drive innovation and support ETF strategies.
• Work with product teams on ETF and passive investment product launches and roadmaps.
• Conduct index research, backtesting, performance attribution, and comparative analysis.
• Monitor industry trends and opportunities in ETF, indexing, and passive investments.
• Translate research insights into commercially viable index concepts and investment products.
• Engage with investment, product, sales and distribution teams to support go-to-market strategies.
• Prepare high-quality research reports and presentations for stakeholders and regulators.

Job Description

• Lead the design and development of innovative index solutions across a wide range of asset classes, including equities, fixed income, thematic, smart-beta, and multi-asset indices.
• Develop proprietary index methodologies from concept generation through implementation, while also delivering customized index solutions in response to client and business needs.
• Partner with leading index providers and external stakeholders to drive index innovation and support the firm's broader ETF and quantitative investment strategy.
• Collaborate closely with Product Development teams on the launch and enhancement of ETF and passive investment products, ensuring alignment with strategic product roadmaps.
• Conduct comprehensive index research, backtesting, performance attribution, and comparative analysis of indices and investment products.
• Monitor industry developments, competitive trends, and emerging opportunities within the global ETF, indexing, and passive investment landscape.
• Generate actionable investment themes and translate capital market insights into commercially viable index concepts and investment solutions.
• Work alongside investment, product, sales, and distribution teams to develop effective go-to-market strategies and support product commercialization.
• Prepare high-quality investment presentations, research reports, and educational materials for internal stakeholders, clients, and regulators.

The Successful Applicant

• Bachelor's degree or above in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or another quantitative discipline.
• Proven experience in index research, index development, ETF product strategy, quantitative investment, or passive investment solutions within asset management, index providers, exchanges, investment banks, or related financial institutions.
• Strong capital markets knowledge with the ability to identify investment trends, assess market dynamics, and transform insights into differentiated index methodologies and investment products.
• Demonstrated expertise in index construction, index methodology design, and ETF product development.
• Solid understanding of equity, fixed income, thematic, factor-based, and smart-beta investment strategies.
• Knowledge of quantitative portfolio construction techniques, including portfolio simulation, optimization, risk management, performance attribution, and factor analysis.
• Track record of successfully taking investment concepts from ideation through index launch and product commercialization.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with high intellectual curiosity and innovative thinking.
• Excellent presentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluency in both English and Mandarin Chinese is required; Cantonese proficiency is advantageous.
