Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in financial markets, preferably with index/ETF or asset management background.
• Exposure to HK, China and APAC markets, with understanding of investment strategies and portfolio construction.
• Proficiency in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

Responsibilities

• Conduct quantitative research and develop new index strategies for benchmarks and investible products across Hong Kong and global markets.
• Develop and enhance index methodologies by evaluating new models, back-testing, and performance, market, sector and scenario analysis.
• Understand client needs, trends and best industry practices to design meaningful indices.
• Drive automation of workflows and new analytical tools to enhance research capabilities; oversee index-build efforts across teams and vendors.
• Lead workstreams across new product lifecycles to ensure timely launches, create content and provide market intelligence.
• Promote new capabilities across asset classes as they are developed.
• Create presentations and papers to gain support and investment in product initiatives.
• Collaborate across IT, Product, Sales and Operations.

Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Data Business department and play a significant role in shaping the index product, a growth business within the group. This newly form team will be responsible for delivering differentiating index products that align with the strategy of the business and the exchange as a whole. We are looking for a high caliber and motivated individual to join our team with responsibility spanning across strategy execution and project implementation.

Job Duties

To be successful in this role you will leverage your domain expertise and passion for the industry to:

Responsibilities:

• Conduct quantitative research and development of new index strategies for benchmarks and investible products across Hong Kong and global markets.
• Develop and enhance index methodologies by evaluating new models and ideas, conducting back-testing, and performing in-depth performance, market, sector and scenario analysis.
• Possess a good understanding of the competitive landscape, understand client needs, current trends and best industry practice to design methodology and indices client will use and value.
• Drive automation of workflows and new analytical tools integration to enhance research capabilities. Oversee index build efforts, coordinating across multiple teams and vendors.
• Lead workstreams across new product lifecycle to ensure the smooth and timely launch of new indices, create content and provide market intelligence.
• Promote any new capabilities across asset classes and new capabilities as they are developed.
• Create presentations and papers using excellent communication skills to gain support and investment in product initiatives.
• Leverage strengths as a team player to collaborate across various functions including IT, Product, Sales and Operations.

Requirements:

• Relevant university degree or equivalent.
• 7+ years of experience in financial markets, experience from Index/ETF businesses, asset management, quantitative research and/or product development is preferable.
• Exposure on Hong Kong, China and APAC financial market, good understanding of investment strategies and portfolio construction.
• Demonstrate good understanding of relevant programming languages and tools, third party vendor products.
• A self-starter with an entrepreneurial and innovative mindset and high agility.
• Strong analytical, collaboration, interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
