Job summary

HKEX Summer Internship Programme offers penultimate-year IT/CS students a hands-on experience in global markets. You will learn through direct responsibility on projects and join a fun, ambitious team at the heart of HKEX’s technology and markets.

The programme runs June–August for up to 10 weeks, with 40 scheduled hours per week. High-potential interns may be considered for future opportunities, including the HKEX Graduate Associate Programme.

Qualifications

• Penultimate-year student pursuing IT/CS or related discipline.
• Expected graduation Sept 2027–Jul 2028.
• Minimum GPA 3.5 (or Second Class Honours Upper Division) or equivalent.
• Passion for technology and financial markets; curiosity about emerging tech.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication abilities.

Job Duties:

HKEX Summer Internship Programme offer interns a unique experience in global markets, with the opportunity to learn, develop new skills, take on direct responsibility for work and projects, and be part of a fun and ambitious team right at the heart of global markets. In joining us, you will gain insight into life at work at HKEX, while developing practical on-the-job experience.

The programme kicks off in June and continues through into August. The maximum employment period for each intern is 10 weeks.

We are looking for candidates who:

• Are penultimate-year students graduating between September 2027 and July 2028 with a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Are on track to achieve a minimum GPA of 3.5 (out of a GPA 4.0 scale), Second Class Honours (Upper Division) or equivalent
• Demonstrate a passion for technology, innovation and the application of technology in financial markets and show curiosity about emerging technologies.
• Possess strong analytical, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
• Are curious, adaptable and eager to embrace new challenges.
• Have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
• Demonstrate excellent command of written and spoken English.
