Job summary

ACCA Careers is partnering with a leading alternative asset management firm to appoint a Head of Operations / Deputy Head of Operations in Hong Kong. The role centers on leading middle and back-office operations for hedge funds, driving process excellence, and supporting expansion across markets.

The successful candidate will mentor a small team, oversee trade lifecycle management, and coordinate with fund administrators, prime brokers, and custodians while collaborating with Portfolio Managers

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant buy-side operations experience within hedge funds, or alternative investment.
• Proven experience managing investment operations teams.
• Experience dealing directly with fund administrators, prime brokers, custodians, and regulators.
• Demonstrated ability to lead operational transformation and automation initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the full spectrum of middle and back-office operations supporting hedge fund activities.
• Manage and mentor a team of two operations professionals, providing leadership, guidance, and development opportunities.
• Oversee trade lifecycle management, including trade support, settlements, reconciliations, corporate actions, and cash management.
• Monitor daily operational processes and ensure accurate and timely execution of all operational activities.
• Act as the primary contact for fund administrators, custodians, prime brokers, counterparties, and external service providers.
• Review and oversee portfolio, cash, and position reconciliations, ensuring prompt investigation and resolution of breaks.
• Partner closely with Portfolio Managers, Finance, Risk, Compliance, and Technology teams on operational matters.
• Drive process improvement initiatives, operational efficiency, automation, and system enhancements.
• Support new fund launches, product development initiatives, and strategic business projects.
