Job summary

Lote and Partners is seeking a junior Investment Analyst in Hong Kong to join a concentrated, research-driven hedge fund team. You will generate and defend long and short ideas across sectors, working closely with Portfolio Managers in a dynamic public markets environment.

The role focuses on building robust financial models, conducting primary research including management meetings and channel checks in Greater China, and monitoring positions with sizing and exit strategies.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in investment banking or private equity in Hong Kong
• Fluent Mandarin and English, written and spoken
• Strong financial modelling, valuation and accounting skills
• Genuine passion for public markets with personal investing track record preferred
• Independent judgement and conviction to defend a view

Responsibilities

Our client isa fundamental equity long/short hedge fund based in Hong Kong, investing across Asian and global public markets. They run a concentrated, research-driven portfolio and seek a talented junior generalist to join their team.

This Investment Analyst will generate and defend long and short ideas across sectors, working directly with the Portfolio Managers. This is a career move from banking or private equity into public markets for someone who wants to be judged on the quality of their fundamental analysis.

The candidate will;

• Build and maintain financial models, valuations and investment theses
• Conduct primary research: management meetings, expert calls, channel checks and on-the-ground diligence in Greater China
• Monitor existing positions, earnings and catalysts, and recommend sizing and exits
• Read and synthesise Chinese-language filings, news and industry sources

Requirements

• 3–5 years of total work experience in investment banking or private equity, based in Hong Kong
• Bachelor's degree from a leading US or UK university (Ivy League or equivalent strongly preferred)
• Fluent Mandarin and English, written and spoken
• Strong financial modelling, valuation and accounting skills
• Genuine passion for public markets, ideally shown through a personal investing track record or stock pitches
• Intellectual curiosity, independent judgement and the conviction to defend a view
