BAH Partners in Hong Kong seeks an Executive Director / Managing Director to lead Global Markets Execution Technology. This senior technology leadership role shapes architecture and strategy across electronic trading platforms, OMS, connectivity and market data, with global and APAC responsibilities.

You will engage senior stakeholders, drive major programmes, and set technical direction that aligns to business outcomes, ensuring low latency, scale, and reliability across critical trading

Responsibilities

• Assess and modernise/replace/retire complex technology estates as needed.
• Lead architecture across greenfield and brownfield programmes; drive performance and reliability improvements.

Executive Director / Managing Director – Global Markets Execution Technology

Hong Kong | Global Investment Bank | Global / APAC Remit

A leading global investment bank is looking to appoint a senior Executive Director or Managing Director-level technology leader within its Global Markets Execution Technology organisation.

This is a high-profile leadership and architecture mandate with significant influence over the technology strategy supporting electronic trading and execution. The successful candidate will operate at the intersection of technology, architecture and business delivery, helping define the future direction of large-scale, business-critical trading platforms.

The role requires genuine seniority. This is not simply an enterprise architecture or governance position. The individual needs the credibility and technical depth to engage senior business and technology stakeholders, challenge existing approaches, make difficult architectural decisions and drive major programmes through to delivery.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide senior technology and architectural leadership across Global Markets execution technology, with responsibility spanning APAC and significant interaction with the global organisation
• Define technology strategy and architecture across electronic trading, order management, exchange and client connectivity, market data and associated trading platforms
• Partner closely with senior trading and business leadership to translate commercial priorities into technology strategy and delivery
• Assess complex existing technology estates and determine where platforms should be modernised, re-engineered, replaced or retired
• Lead architecture across both greenfield development and major brownfield transformation programmes
• Drive improvements across performance, latency, scalability, resilience, reliability and engineering standards
• Challenge technical proposals and influence investment and prioritisation decisions at senior technology and business levels
• Establish architectural direction across multiple engineering teams and create alignment between technology, infrastructure, operations, risk and business stakeholders
• Evaluate emerging technologies, including AI-enabled capabilities, and determine where they can deliver practical value within the trading technology environment

The successful candidate will bring:

• Senior ED or MD-level experience within Global Markets / electronic trading technology
• Extensive architecture experience across large-scale, business-critical trading and execution platforms
• Strong understanding of agency / electronic trading technology. Broader experience spanning both agency trading and investment-bank trading environments would be particularly valuable
• Deep technical knowledge of Java-based trading architectures and enterprise engineering environments
• Strong experience across areas such as OMS, execution platforms, market connectivity, market data and trading workflows
• Meaningful exposure to low-latency and performance-sensitive architecture
• A track record of setting technical direction across complex technology organisations rather than simply delivering within an established architecture
• Strong commercial judgement and the ability to connect architecture and engineering decisions directly to business outcomes
• Executive-level communication skills and the presence to influence senior business and technology stakeholders globally

The mandate is to shape architecture, influence strategy and drive business delivery across a major global execution technology environment.
