Job summary

Caliber8 Recruitment is seeking a GM Marine Operations for a reputable shipping company based in Hong Kong. The role requires senior leadership to oversee a fleet of more than 50 oil tankers and Master level seagoing background.

You will lead marine operations, provide guidance to Masters and vessel teams, coordinate with owners, charterers and terminals, and ensure regulatory compliance, voyage planning, bunkering and continuous improvement across the operation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years maritime experience with significant shore-based operations.
• Strong seagoing experience, ideally Master level.
• Proven leadership and decision-making skills in complex operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee marine operations across the managed fleet.
• Provide operational guidance and support to Masters and vessel teams.
• Monitor vessel movements, port calls, cargo operations and overall operational performance.
• Coordinate with owners, charterers, agents and terminals to resolve operational issues and minimise delays.
• Oversee voyage planning, vessel readiness, bunkering and port operations.
• Monitor operational KPIs, delays, off-hire and vessel performance.
• Work closely with Technical, Crewing, HSSEQ and Commercial teams to ensure smooth vessel operations.
• Support the management of operational emergencies and critical situations.
• Ensure vessels operate in line with company procedures and applicable maritime regulations.
• Lead and develop the Marine Operations team and drive continuous improvement.
