Job summary

Mandarin Oriental The Landmark, Hong Kong is seeking a General Technician to join our POMEC team. Based at the landmark hotel, you will carry out repairs, maintenance diagnostics and solve engineering problems as part of a premium luxury property.

You will maintain plant rooms and equipment, comply with FLHSS&E standards, support energy conservation, set up AV equipment for functions and liaise with subcontractors while providing safe, courteous service to guests and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Minimum higher certificate in Building Services, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related disciplines.
• Holder of electrical worker license, Grade A is an advantage.
• Holder of Fire Tube Boiler License; knowledge of engineering plants and boilers is advantageous.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Basic computer skills.
• Good spoken and written Chinese (Cantonese) and basic English.
• Independent and able to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Maintain proper and safe condition of all Plant, Plant Rooms, Equipment and Work areas.
• Comply with FLHSS&E standards.
• Be conversant with Hotel Emergency Procedures.
• Perform Emergency Response Team duties as required.
• Be courteous, professional and service oriented with guests and colleagues.
• Assist guests and colleagues as appropriate.
• Carry out work per Hotel Planned Maintenance Programme.
• Ensure all log books and records are up to date.
• Assist engineering personnel with technical advice and ensure standards are maintained.
• Set up audio and video equipment for functions.
• Contribute to energy conservation and control.
• Liaise with other departments and contractors.
• Arrange repair work for outstanding work orders in guest rooms and public/back areas.
• Monitor performance and efficiency of all B&D sections.
• Arrange for repair of all electronic, micro-processor, and computer-controlled equipment.
• Suggest alterations or improvements for system operations.

About the job

Based at Mandarin Oriental The Landmark, Hong Kong within POMEC Department in Hong Kong, the General Technician is responsible for carrying out repair and maintenance diagnostics and solving engineering problems encountered. The General Technician reports to theDuty Engineer.

As General Technician, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Maintain proper and safe condition of all Plant, Plant Rooms, Equipment and Work areas.
• Comply with all Fire, Life, Health, Safety, Security & Environment (FLHSS&E) Standards.
• To be conversant with the Hotel Emergency Procedures.
• Perform Emergency Response Team duties as required.
• Be courteous, professional and service orientated when dealing with Guest, Patrons and Fellow Colleagues Members.
• Assist Guests, Patrons and Fellow Colleagues Members as and when appropriate.
• To carry out work in accordance with The Hotel Planned Maintenance Programme.

As General Technician, we expect from you:

• Minimum higher certificate holder in Building Services, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or other related disciplines
• Holder of electrical worker license, Grade 'A' will be an advantage
• Holder of Fire Tube Boiler License, with Engineering plants and boiler knowledge will be an advantage
• Minimum 2 years' relevant work experience
• Basic computer skills
• Good spoken and written Chinese / Cantonese and basic English
• Independent and able to work under pressure.
