Job summary

CPJobs International in Hong Kong is seeking an Assistant Underwriting Manager (General Insurance) to oversee underwriting plans, manage risk exposure through delegated authority and reinsurance, and review Motor, P&C and A&H products for profitability.

The candidate should hold a university degree with professional insurance qualifications (ACII/ANZIIF-Senior Associate), 10+ years in underwriting and client servicing, and fluency in English and Cantonese; Mandarin is a plus.

Qualifications

• University Degree holder or equivalent.
• Professional insurance qualification ACII or ANZIIF-Senior Associate.
• 10 years or above underwriting, reinsurance and client servicing experience.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and management skills.
• Proactive, mature, independent and results driven.
• Proficient in English and Cantonese; Mandarin an advantage.
• Immediate availability is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Create and review underwriting plans and manage risk exposure via delegated authority and reinsurance.
• Review and underwrite Motor, P&C and A&H products for profit and growth.
• Provide technical support on treaty renewals and daily operations.
• Underwrite general business, inward facultative and treaty reinsurance.
• Prepare renewal data, review slip wording and report on terms.
• Develop and enhance products; conduct customer research and analysis.
• Conduct regular credit control and track premium production vs. budget.
• Propose underwriting strategy to achieve business targets.
• Maintain strong networks with clients and business producers.
• Support Head of Department to deliver high service standards and efficiency.
