Job summary

Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) is seeking a Funds Specialist, Global Manager Research Asia, to drive growth of the funds business through business development, product management, and client engagement in Hong Kong and Greater China.

You will partner with RBC Private Bank Asia to expand fund penetration, evaluate managed products, support client reviews, develop marketing collateral, and coordinate across teams to deliver innovative fund solutions in a dynamic market.

Qualifications

• 7-10 years’ experience in securities or financial markets.
• Superior understanding of Mutual Funds, Hedge Funds, Private Markets, and alternative investments.
• Prior experience in building a funds advisory business.
• Strong English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) communication skills.
• Excellent project management and organizational skills with cross-functional awareness.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently on unstructured tasks.
• Diligent in responding to internal and external client inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Engage with managers and clients to grow fund program penetration in RBC Private Bank Asia.
• Evaluate and plan development of Asia-based managed funds platform.
• Meet clients and assist relationship managers with fund reviews.
• Develop marketing collateral and present fund ideas with partners.
• Conduct product research, due diligence, performance and risk analyses.
• Coordinate product enhancements across systems, marketing, legal, and compliance.
• Research market trends to align products with client needs.
• Liaise with operations, IT, legal, and compliance on product matters.
• Foster relationships with product vendors to improve service.
• Perform ad-hoc analyses of profitability, asset growth, revenue, and market share.
• Support business development and respond to client inquiries.

As the Funds Specialist, Global Manager Research Asia, you will be responsible for driving the growth of our funds business across RBC Asia Private Banking channels through business development, product management, and client engagement in Hong Kong and Greater China.

What will you do?

• Engage with relationship managers and clients to grow penetration and AUM of the fund program within RBC Private Bank Asia, with primary focus on Hong Kong and Greater China market
• Evaluate, prioritise, and plan development of managed products (Mutual Funds, Hedge Funds, Private Markets, and Alternative Strategies) platform in Asia
• Meet clients and assist relationship managers with client portfolio reviews, providing advisory services on Funds
• Develop effective marketing collateral and present fund ideas across multiple forums in collaboration with business partners
• Conduct product research, due diligence, portfolio performance and risk assessment, quantitative analysis, and platform enhancement in Asia
• Implement new products and enhancements to existing products, coordinating across systems, marketing, legal, compliance, and communication strategies
• Research competitive landscape and industry trends to ensure products align with market and client needs
• Act as liaison to functional teams in product-related matters (Operations, Marketing, Information Systems, Legal, Compliance)
• Work closely with team members to develop strong relationships with product vendors and enhance service quality
• Conduct ad-hoc analysis of product profitability, asset growth, revenue, expense, market share, and program features
• Support business development efforts and work independently in responding to internal and external client enquiries

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business, Finance, or Marketing
• 7-10 years’ experience in securities or financial markets
• Superior understanding of Mutual Funds, Hedge Funds, Private Markets, and alternative investments
• Prior experience in successfully building a funds advisory business
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin)
• Excellent project management and organizational skills with good understanding of technology, operational, sales, and marketing issues
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
• Ability to work independently on unstructured tasks and balance multiple projects
• Diligent in responding to internal and external client enquiries independently

Nice-to-have

• Product advisory experience (internal and external)
• Working knowledge of Avaloq banking system
• Advanced qualifications (MBA, MA, MS)
