Job summary

RBC invites applications for a Funds Specialist, Global Manager Research Asia, based in Hong Kong. Lead growth of the funds program across RBC Private Bank Asia, engaging with clients and RMs to expand AUM in Hong Kong and Greater China.

You will manage product development across mutual funds, hedge funds, private markets, and alternatives, conduct due diligence, and coordinate with Ops, Marketing, Legal, and Compliance to implement enhancements and deliver client-focused investment ideas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Marketing.
• 7–10 years’ experience in securities or financial markets.
• Superior understanding of mutual funds, hedge funds, private markets, and alternatives.
• Prior experience in building a funds advisory business.
• Strong oral and written English and Chinese (Cantonese & Mandarin).
• Excellent project management and organizational skills with technology, operations, sales, and marketing awareness.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently on unstructured tasks.
• Responsive to internal and external client enquiries.

Responsibilities

• Engage with RMs and clients to grow AUM of RBC Private Bank Asia, focusing on HK and Greater China.
• Evaluate and plan development of managed products (Mutual Funds, Hedge Funds, Private Markets, Alt Strategies) in Asia.
• Meet clients and assist RMs with portfolio reviews, providing Funds advisory.
• Develop marketing collateral and present fund ideas with business partners.
• Conduct product research, due diligence, performance and risk analysis in Asia.
• Implement new and enhanced products, coordinating across Ops, Marketing, Legal, Compliance.
• Research market trends to ensure products meet client needs.
• Liaise with operations, marketing, IS, legal, compliance on product matters.
• Build relationships with product vendors and improve service quality.
• Perform ad-hoc profitability, AUM growth, revenue, expense analysis.
• Support BD efforts and handle internal/external client inquiries independently.

As the Funds Specialist, Global Manager Research Asia, you will be responsible for driving the growth of our funds business across RBC Asia Private Banking channels through business development, product management, and client engagement in Hong Kong and Greater China.

What will you do?

• Engage with relationship managers and clients to grow penetration and AUM of the fund program within RBC Private Bank Asia, with primary focus on Hong Kong and Greater China market
• Evaluate, prioritise, and plan development of managed products (Mutual Funds, Hedge Funds, Private Markets, and Alternative Strategies) platform in Asia
• Meet clients and assist relationship managers with client portfolio reviews, providing advisory services on Funds
• Develop effective marketing collateral and present fund ideas across multiple forums in collaboration with business partners
• Conduct product research, due diligence, portfolio performance and risk assessment, quantitative analysis, and platform enhancement in Asia
• Implement new products and enhancements to existing products, coordinating across systems, marketing, legal, compliance, and communication strategies
• Research competitive landscape and industry trends to ensure products align with market and client needs
• Act as liaison to functional teams in product-related matters (Operations, Marketing, Information Systems, Legal, Compliance)
• Work closely with team members to develop strong relationships with product vendors and enhance service quality
• Conduct ad-hoc analysis of product profitability, asset growth, revenue, expense, market share, and program features
• Support business development efforts and work independently in responding to internal and external client enquiries

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business, Finance, or Marketing
• 7-10 years’ experience in securities or financial markets
• Superior understanding of Mutual Funds, Hedge Funds, Private Markets, and alternative investments
• Prior experience in successfully building a funds advisory business
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin)
• Excellent project management and organizational skills with good understanding of technology, operational, sales, and marketing issues
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
• Ability to work independently on unstructured tasks and balance multiple projects
• Diligent in responding to internal and external client enquiries independently

Nice-to-have

• Product advisory experience (internal and external)
• Working knowledge of Avaloq banking system
• Advanced qualifications (MBA, MA, MS)
