Job summary

Bank of China (Hong Kong) is seeking a junior software engineer to participate in the full software development lifecycle across application systems. You will gather requirements, write code, test, deploy, and maintain solutions under guidance.

You will develop and maintain front-end or back-end modules using React/Vue/Angular or Java/Python/.NET, supported by senior team members, and learn to work with middleware such as API gateways, Kafka, Redis, and load balancers while growing your skills

Qualifications

• 1-5 years of experience in software development; fresh graduates are welcome.
• Basic understanding of front-end or back-end technologies and programming principles.
• Familiarity with common middleware (e.g., Nginx, Kafka, Redis) is a plus but not required.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus/Grafana), or logging systems (e.g., ELK) is advantageous.
• Basic knowledge of RPA tools is preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
• Good communication skills in English and Chinese (written and spoken); proficiency in Mandarin is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the full software development lifecycle of application systems, including requirement gathering, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance under guidance;
• Develop and maintain front-end (React/Vue/Angular) or back-end (Java/Python/.NET) modules with support from senior team members;
• Learn to configure and support common middleware components such as API gateways, message queues (e.g., Kafka), caching systems (e.g., Redis), and load balancers;
• Assist in system operations by monitoring alerts, documenting incidents, and supporting root cause analysis;
• Support project delivery tasks such as progress tracking, documentation preparation, and coordination across teams;
