The incumbent will be responsible for month-end closing and annual and interim statutory reporting, as well as any ad hoc and regular financial analysis/statutory reports, board meeting materials and management reports on timely basis as requested by the Top Management, major shareholders and regulatory authorities.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the month-end closing process including production of the respective monthly performance and control reports for review by senior management
- Handle annual and interim statutory reporting
- Prepare any ad hoc and regular financial analysis/statutory reports, board meeting materials and other management reports on timely basis as requested by senior management, major shareholders of the Bank, government departments and regulatory authorities
- Prepare any financial information as requested by both external and internal auditors
- Assist in handling and answering enquiries from other departments, branches and subsidiaries
- Ensure the month-end closing process can be completed by the timeline as stipulated by senior management
- Ensure the financial results and all management reports are correctly compiled from the general ledgers and other financial records / system reports, where appropriate
- Assist in communicating the reporting requirements for both month-end closing and statutory reporting to all departments, branches and subsidiaries
- Handle reconciliation of inter-company accounts and to investigate any material discrepancies noted
- Analyse and explain material variances on financial results in the course of the month-end closing process
- Allocate tasks properly to subordinates / teammates, and monitor the performance of the subordinates and to provide proper coaching from time to time
Requirements
- University graduate, preferably major in Accounting or Finance
- Qualified accountant / HKICPA or equivalent
- Preferable over 6 years’ experience in banking sector or financial industry
- Good knowledge and experience in handling month-end closing and statutory account preparation
- Good understanding of the HKFRS Accounting Standards
- Good knowledge of Hong Kong Profits Tax computations, tax provisioning, and tax book closing procedures (including deferred tax)
- Experience in liaising with both external and internal auditors
- Prior managerial experience is highly advantageous
- A team player with good communication skills and risk awareness
- Good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese, fluent in Putonghua is preferable
