Qualifications

Finance Manager – Alternative Investment Management

Location: Hong Kong

Experience: Approximately 2–5 years

We are partnering with a growing alternative investment management platform in Hong Kong to appoint a Finance Manager as part of its continued development.

This is a broad, hands‑on position sitting across finance, fund operations, investor reporting and business management. Working within a lean investment team, the successful individual will have direct exposure to senior decision‑makers and take ownership of the day‑to‑day finance function while coordinating closely with external fund administrators, banks, lawyers and other professional advisers.

Unlike a traditional accounting or Financial Controller position, this opportunity provides exposure to both the fund and corporate sides of an investment management business.

For someone looking to build a long‑term career within the buy‑side, the role also offers significant room to grow as the platform expands, with the potential to develop into a broader finance leadership position over time.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day finance and accounting activities across the investment management platform.
• Oversee cash flow management, cash movements, investment proceeds and related reconciliations.
• Monitor liquidity requirements and ensure accurate and timely processing of fund-related transactions.
• Support fund-level accounting, calculations and financial reporting.
• Coordinate the preparation and delivery of investor reporting and other fund-related reporting requirements.
• Work closely with external fund administrators to review accounting records, reporting and calculations.
• Coordinate with auditors, banks, lawyers, tax advisers and other external service providers.
• Manage recurring finance, operational and reporting deadlines and ensure deliverables are completed accurately and on time.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and broader financial analysis where required.
• Assist senior management with finance-related information and analysis to support business decision‑making.
• Maintain appropriate controls, processes and documentation across the finance and operational function.
• Support the continued development and institutionalisation of finance processes as the investment platform and AUM grow.
• Take ownership of ad hoc finance and operational matters within a small and entrepreneurial investment management environment.

Requirements

• Approximately 2–5 years of relevant professional experience.
• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Professional accounting qualification such as CPA, HKICPA, ACCA or equivalent would be highly regarded.
• Candidates with training from a Big Four accounting firm are encouraged to apply.
• Experience within fund administration, fund accounting, private equity, private credit, asset management or another alternative investment environment would be highly advantageous.
• Exposure to fund-level accounting, NAV/fund calculations, investor reporting or cash management would be particularly relevant.
• Strong accounting fundamentals with a high level of attention to detail.
• Comfortable working with multiple external service providers and managing competing deadlines.
• Strong organisational and project coordination skills.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to engage with senior stakeholders and external advisers.
• Commercially minded and interested in understanding the investment management business beyond pure accounting.
• Flexible, hands‑on and comfortable working within a small, fast-moving and entrepreneurial team.
• Able to operate independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
