Job summary

Job Position Summary

The ESG Advisory Manager – Commercial role at Fleet World supports customers in navigating evolving maritime regulations, decarbonisation requirements, and compliance pathways, including FuelEU, EU ETS, CII, and EEXI. The role delivers consultative ESG advisory services and develops strategic client partnerships that create new business opportunities while supporting the company’s broader commercial objectives.

As part of the Marine Services commercial build, the ESG Advisory Manager contributes directly to commercial growth and external advisory revenues by positioning Fleet World’s ESG capabilities, digital solutions, and sustainability expertise as value-added services for shipowners and operators.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess emerging maritime regulations and compliance developments that may impact customer assets, operations, and commercial exposure.
• Represent FLEET at industry conferences, regulatory forums, and stakeholder engagements, communicating relevant regulatory developments across the business and to Technical Groups.
• Oversee the monitoring, analysis, and reporting of customer liabilities, cost exposure, and collections associated with FuelEU Maritime and EU ETS compliance obligations.
• Support the external commercialisation and client adoption of the NOVA platform as part of FLEET’s ESG advisory and decarbonisation offering.
• Provide ESG and regulatory subject matter expertise to internal IT teams and external vendors to enhance PARIS platform capabilities, data integrity, emissions monitoring, and reporting accuracy.
• Deliver strategic decarbonisation guidance and ESG-related operational recommendations that enhance vessel competitiveness and long‑term regulatory readiness.

KEEP ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT TRANSPARENT

• Support the Commercial team with advisory input on Ship Management contractual clauses relating to emissions regulations, including compliance obligations, liabilities, mandates, and security provisions.
• Monitor the effectiveness and performance of the EU ETS function and Technical Groups to ensure customer reporting, compliance submissions, and SMA obligations are delivered accurately and within agreed timelines.

KEEP THE PARTNERSHIP CONSULTATIVE

• Lead consultative ESG and decarbonisation advisory services across key regulatory frameworks, including:
• CII (Carbon Intensity Indicator)
• EEXI (Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index)
• FuelEU Maritime
• EU ETS (EU Emissions Trading System)
• Support owners facing multi‑year compliance and carbon‑budgeting pressures
• Participate in consultative client engagement by supporting:
• Problem‑solving and consultative case studies for clients.

Job Experience, Functional Knowledge, and Qualifications

Job Experience

• Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in the maritime industry, ESG advisory, environmental compliance, or commercial shipping operations.
• Proven experience supporting shipowners or operators with decarbonisation and emissions compliance frameworks, including EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime, CII, and EEXI.
• Experience in customer‑facing advisory, commercial, or business development roles within shipping or maritime services.
• Exposure to emissions reporting platforms, sustainability tools, or maritime digital solutions is preferred.
• Experience working across cross‑functional teams in an international business environment.

Functional Knowledge

• Strong understanding of maritime environmental regulations and decarbonisation strategies.
• Knowledge of EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime, IMO carbon‑intensity frameworks, and related compliance obligations.
• Understanding of vessel operations, technical management, procurement, and OPEX budgeting principles.
• Familiarity with emissions monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) processes and maritime reporting systems.
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to translate technical ESG requirements into customer solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Marine Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business, or a related discipline.
• Professional certifications or postgraduate qualifications in sustainability, ESG, shipping, or environmental management are advantageous.
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data/reporting platforms; familiarity with maritime digital systems is preferred.
• Fluent written and spoken English; additional languages are an advantage.
