Job summary

Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) is seeking a seasoned Internal Audit professional to lead and strengthen the Internal Audit Department, overseeing planning, reporting to the Audit Committee, and driving risk management and governance across the organisation, including PRC operations.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree plus recognised professional qualifications (e.g., HKICPA, ACCA, CIA), 12+ years of relevant experience, strong data analytics and IT

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline with recognised professional qualification.
• At least 12 years of relevant experience, including 5+ years in an in-house internal audit capacity.
• Strong knowledge of risk management and corporate governance.
• Strong data analytics and IT audit knowledge preferred.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Proactive, disciplined, and able to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head of Internal Audit to manage operations of the IAD (including PRC).
• Assist HIA to prepare rolling 3-year plan for IAD.
• Assist HIA on reporting to Audit Committee.
• Plan and execute scheduled audits with proper methodologies and tools.
• Facilitate ASTRI's risk management process.
• Conduct regular compliance reporting to the Audit Committee.
• Oversee and guide other team members.
• Provide advisory service to different business units.
• Liaise with key stakeholders including ASTRI Directors, ITC officials, external service providers, and colleagues.

Job Responsibilities

To support our constant endeavour to position Hong Kong as a world‑class smart city and an international hub of innovation and technology, we are seeking qualified professionals to fill the following position(s):

• Assist Head of Internal Audit (HIA) to manage the operations of the Internal Audit Department (IAD) (including in PRC)
• Assist HIA to prepare rolling 3-year plan for IAD
• Assist HIA on reporting to Audit Committee
• Plan and execute scheduled audits, utilizing appropriate audit methodologies and audit tools
• Facilitate ASTRl's risk management process
• Carry out regular compliance reporting to the Audit Committee
• Conduct ad hoc and whistleblowing assignments
• Oversee and provide guidance on the work of other team members
• Provide advisory service to different business units as required
• Assist HIA to liaise with key stakeholders, including ASTRI Directors, ITC officials, external service providers, and colleagues

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline, with recognised professional qualification (e.g., HKICPA, ACCA, CIA, etc.)
• At least 12 years of relevant experience, including at least five years in an in‑house internal audit capacity. Candidates with less experience may be considered for Senior Manager, Internal Audit
• Solid knowledge and experience in risk management and corporate governance.
• Strong data analytics skills, and IT audit knowledge and experience are preferred
• Well‑organised, demonstrate enthusiasm, initiative and drive, strong sense of ownership and able to work under pressure
• Tactful and assertive, with ability to build and maintain effective team / client relationships
• Excellent influencing, presentation and communication skills, with the ability to communicate constructively with management and audit clients on risks, findings, recommendations and agreed actions
• A team player who can also work independently
• Excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese (including Putonghua)
• High‑level PC literacy, excellent MS Excel skills in particular and other MS Office applications
• Proactive with a “can do” attitude, with integrity, independence and professionalism

The appointment will be on renewable contract terms with a competitive salary and performance‑linked variable pay. Fringe benefits include paid leave, medical, insurance coverage and contribution to MPF. The incumbent will normally work a five‑day week.
