Job summary

Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute is seeking qualified professionals to support IP spin-offs and new ventures, identify licensing targets, and build partnerships across startups, SMEs and larger enterprises. Job Responsibilities

To support our constant endeavour to position Hong Kong as a world-class smart city and an international hub of innovation and technology, we are seeking qualified professionals to fill the following position(s):

• Assist in the establishment of IP Spin-Offs and New Ventures at ASTRI.
• Identify patents and technologies that are suitable for licensing or new venture formation.
• Identify and build relationships with startups, SMEs, and enterprises which are potential partners for licensing or New Venture formation.
• Work closely with VCs and financial institutions as funding sources for new ventures.
• Develop business plans, financial forecasts, and analysis to help with the business case evaluation of new ventures.
• Develop and define the corporate processes, policies, and procedures for new ventures and IP licensing.
• Manage ASTRI’s online IP marketplace. Work as the “product manager” to define and coordinate the development of new features.
• Work closely with the Marketing team to promote, drive traffic, and drive IP sales in the marketplace.
• Work closely with ecosystem and channel partners for IP sales.
• Perform ad hoc duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or above with minimum of 8 years of work experience in business development, ecosystem building, or venture investment in the technology sector. Engineering/ Science background will be a plus.
• Experience with financial analysis and business model analysis.
• Strong network and contacts in the tech ecosystem, especially in the VC, technology, and startup community
• Strong business acumen and a strategic mindset.
• Strong communications skills.
• Experience in ecommerce and web products is a plus.
• An independent self-starter with a proactive attitude and meticulous personality, an aggressive working attitude and a strong desire to succeed.
• Good command of English and Chinese, fluent Putonghua is a plus.
• Experience in working on or working with R&D projects preferred.

The appointment will be on renewable contract terms with a competitive salary and performance-linked variable pay. Fringe benefits include paid leave, medical, insurance coverage and contribution to MPF.

The incumbent will normally work a five-day week.
