Job summary

Gfi World in Hong Kong is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to manage outsourced vendors and oversee the core database environment. You will handle daily operations, coordinate with developers on SQL deployments, and implement a robust backup and recovery strategy to ensure data integrity.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in database administration, strong Oracle/MySQL experience, and proficiency across Linux and Windows platforms.

Qualifications

• Degree holder in Computer Science, Information System, Information Technology or Related Disciplines
• At least 5 years or above of experience in Database Administration
• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) is an advantage
• Solid experience with Linux and Windows platforms and strong Oracle RDBMS management, MySQL
• Experience include DB design, DB security, capacity planning, performance tuning, storage management, back-up and recovery, managing tables, schemas, report generation and DB clustering technologies
• Good problem solver, focused with ability to work on your own as well as with a team.
• Must be a self-starter with a strong attention to detail.
• Vendor management and communication skill is required.
• Proficient in English, Chinese and Mandarin communication both in spoken and written
• Experience with memory database is an advantage
• Familiar with Chinese Company Culture is an advantage

Responsibilities

• Manage outsourced vendor in support core database system
• Daily operation and maintenance of core database to ensure it is running stable and reliable.
• Work with developer to review and deploy SQL, handle deployment request in production environment
• Create a reliable backup strategy. Ensure database backups are appropriately executed and periodic restorations are exercised to ensure backup quality.
• Determine and document DB policies, procedures and standards
• SQL and DB Performance tuning to identification of bottle necks and deadlock issues.
• Ensure SLA's & operational KPIs are met, alert monitoring and working as necessary with internal and external support functions to resolve issue
• Ad-hoc projects for database installation, configuration, patching, upgrading and resiliency implementation
