Job summary

MemeStrategy, a Hong Kong-based collectibles company, seeks a Card Specialist / Card Grader to join the grading operations team. You will assess, authenticate and pre-grade trading cards, while managing end-to-end grading submissions and customer communications.

The ideal candidate has hands-on grading experience, knowledge of grading standards, and familiarity with PSA, BGS and CGC processes. Cantonese is preferred and English/Mandarin are a plus.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on experience in card grading, grading submissions or high-volume card handling.
• Deep knowledge of TCG (Pokemon, Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh) and sports cards.
• Strong understanding of grading standards and submission procedures.
• Familiarity with PSA, BGS, CGC submission workflows and fee structures.
• Excellent attention to detail and integrity in handling high-value collectibles.

Responsibilities

• Conduct visual inspections to assess surface, corners, edges, centering and overall card condition.

Job description

Grade10, a division of MemeStrategy (HKEX: 2440), is a collectibles and IP merchandise company dedicated to creating premium trading cards, licensed consumer products and collectibles. We create our own trading card products while collaborating with globally recognized IPs such as NBA, Pokémon, and Potatoz to bring exclusive collectibles and merchandise to market. Beyond product development, we build strong retail and distribution partnerships to ensure our products are widely available across major retail chains, hobby stores, toy retailers, and lifestyle channels throughout Hong Kong and Southeast Asia.

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate and detail-oriented Card Specialist / Card Grader to join our retail and grading operations team. The role will be responsible for assessing, authenticating and pre-grading trading cards, sports cards and other collectibles, while in charging the end-to-end grading submission process and customer journey.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in card grading, grading submissions, card shop operations or high-volume card handling. He/she should have deep knowledge of TCG, sports cards, card condition assessment, grading standards, market trends and collector behaviour, with the integrity and attention to detail required to handle high-value collectibles.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed visual inspections of trading cards, sports cards and collectibles to assess surface condition, corners, edges, centering, print quality and overall card condition.
• Research, identify and authenticate collectible cards, including detecting reprints, alterations, trimming, counterfeits, printing errors and suspicious items.
• Apply established grading standards and company-specific criteria consistently when assessing card condition and expected grading outcomes.
• Pre-grade customer and shop submissions across major grading authorities, including PSA, BGS and CGC, and advise on suitable grading tiers and realistic expected outcomes.
• Manage the end-to-end grading submission process, including card assessment, order creation, packaging, shipping, tracking, receiving and customer updates.
• Accurately record card details, grading assessments, serial numbers, submission status and customer information in the inventory / submission management system.
• Support quality control by maintaining consistent, fair and objective grading standards across all submissions and internal assessments.
• Handle, sleeve, package and store high-value cards safely to protect their condition throughout the grading and submission process.
• Evaluate walk-in collections and individual cards for buy, sell and trade-in opportunities, providing fair and informed valuations where required.
• Monitor secondary market prices, card trends, population reports, grading results and customer demand to support accurate assessments and commercial decisions.
• Assist customers with grading enquiries, card condition explanations, submission options and basic market information in a clear and professional manner.
• Support the development and improvement of grading submission SOPs, workflow, record-keeping and handling procedures.
• Share product knowledge, grading observations and market insights with the store team, and help train junior staff on basic grading and handling practices.
• Maintain a clean, organized and secure work environment for card inspection, storage and handling.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support grading operations, shop floor activities and business needs.

Requirements

• 3 years or above hands-on experience in card grading, grading submissions, card shop retail, trading card dealing, collectibles operations or high-volume card handling is preferred.
• Deep knowledge of TCG, including Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, sports cards, including NBA, MLB, NFL, football or other major trading and sports cards is a must.
• Good understanding of grading standards, card condition assessment, grading tiers, submission procedures and the collector market.
• Familiarity with PSA, BGS, CGC or other recognized grading authorities, including submission processes, grading standards and fee structures.
• Eye for Detail: Exceptional visual acuity and the ability to identify card condition issues, including scratches, dents, whitening, print lines, centering issues, surface wear, edge damage and corner wear.
• Experience identifying altered, trimmed, counterfeit or otherwise suspicious cards is highly preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, visual accuracy and manual dexterity when handling fragile or high-value cards.
• High level of Integrity and ethical standards; must be honest and objective to maintain the shop's reputation.
• Familiarity with comic book grading standards (CGC / CBCS) and experience assessing non-card collectibles is a plus.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain grading results and submission options to customers where required.
• Good command of Cantonese; English and Mandarin are preferred, ability to communicate in Japanese is a plus but not required.
• Able to work independently while also supporting the wider retail and operations team.
• Certification, training or prior working experience with a recognized grading authority such as PSA, BGS, CGC or equivalent is a plus.
