Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in building services/MEP design.
• Experience delivering commercial fit-out, workplace, retail, hospitality or mixed-use interiors.
• Proven ability to lead coordinated building-services design packages.
• Strong technical grounding across building-services systems and documentation.
• Experience across full design lifecycle: concept to construction-stage support.
• Familiarity with Hong Kong codes and local authority submissions.
• Confident in client engagement and coordinating stakeholders.
• Collaborative leadership style with hands-on project delivery.
• Genuine interest in design quality, sustainability and practical solutions.

Aurex Group has been exclusively retained by a respected design consultancy in Hong Kong to appoint an experienced Building Services Design Lead with a sustained passion for developing creative, practical and high-performing building-services solutions.

Created in response to a growing volume of secured and upcoming commercial fit-out work, this is a key opportunity to provide technical and design leadership across a varied workplace and commercial interiors project portfolio. You will remain close to the design process while guiding project outcomes, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and helping shape the capability of the building-services function in Hong Kong.

This role will suit a technically strong building-services professional who enjoys resolving complex design challenges and balancing innovation, performance, buildability, sustainability and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead building-services design delivery for commercial fit-out projects, from early concept development through detailed design, documentation and construction-stage support.
• Develop creative, coordinated and technically robust MEP solutions for workplace, retail and commercial interiors projects.
• Provide technical leadership across mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire-services coordination, ensuring fully integrated design outcomes.
• Coordinate closely with architects, interior designers, project managers, structural engineers and specialist consultants.
• Provide technical direction, mentoring and quality assurance for junior engineers and project teams.
• Engage directly with clients, contractors and external stakeholders to resolve technical issues and maintain strong working relationships.
• Support workload planning, project-delivery standards and the continued growth of the building-services capability.

About You

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in building services or MEP design, ideally gained within a consultancy environment.
• Experience delivering commercial fit-out, workplace, retail, hospitality or mixed-use interiors projects is highly regarded.
• Proven ability to lead coordinated building-services design packages and contribute creatively to complex engineering solutions.
• Strong technical grounding across building-services systems, design coordination, equipment selection, calculations and documentation.
• Experience across the full design lifecycle, including concept, schematic design, detailed design, tender documentation and construction-stage support.
• Familiarity with Hong Kong codes, statutory requirements and local authority submission processes would be advantageous.
• Confidence working directly with clients and coordinating internal and external project stakeholders.
• A collaborative leadership style, with the ability to mentor others while remaining hands-on in project delivery.
• A genuine interest in design quality, innovation, sustainability and commercially practical solutions.
