Job summary

Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong is seeking a Building Services Engineer to join our Engineering team. Based at the Hong Kong property, you will supervise the duty team and oversee plant operation, repairs and maintenance.

• Higher diploma in Building Services, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• At least 6 years of relevant experience with 2 years in supervision.
• Experience in managing contractors preferred.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in English and Chinese (spoken and written).

Responsibilities

• Supervise breakdown and preventive maintenance of all plant systems.
• Monitor utility consumption and duty team work orders.
• Liaise with contractors and other departments.
• Diagnose problems and implement solutions.
• Manage the department operating budget.
• Perform other duties as required by senior engineering staff.

About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong within Engineering Department in Hong Kong, the Building Services Engineer is responsible for Supervising the duty team operation, plant and machinery operation, repairs and maintenance. The Building Services Engineer reports to theAssistant Director of Engineering.

As Building Services Engineer, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Supervise the breakdown and preventive maintenance of all engineer plants, machinery and systems
• Monitor utility consumption, duty team’s work orders and telephone orders situation
• Liaise with contractors and other departments to perform duties
• Diagnose problems encountered, seek and implement solutions
• Be responsible for and accountable for the departmental operating budget
• Perform any other reasonable duties as required by Director of Engineering and Assistant Director of Engineering from time to time works.

As Building Services Engineer, we expect from you:

• Minimum Higher Diploma holder in Building Services, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or other related disciplines
• Minimum 6 years' relevant work experience with 2 years in supervisory level
• Experience in managing contractors is highly preferred
• Detail-oriented with strong problem solving skills
• Proficient in both spoken and written English and Chinese.
