Helios Education International Limited in Hong Kong seeks academically accomplished tutors to teach Biology, Chemistry and/or Psychology across IGCSE/GCSE, A-Level/IAL and IBDP. You will explain complex concepts clearly in English and adapt lessons to students’ needs.
Applicants with strong academic profiles and familiarity with Cambridge, Edexcel, AQA or OCR curricula are preferred. Full-time or part-time tutors with reliable weekly availability and a commitment to long-term student progress
You are academically accomplished, passionate about teaching and committed to helping students achieve outstanding results. You can teach Biology, Chemistry and/or Psychology across one or more of the following: IGCSE/GCSE, A-Level/International A-Level (IAL) and IBDP.
1. Strong Academic Background
You meet at least one of the following criteria:
You are a graduate or current student at a reputable university in Hong Kong or overseas, preferably pursuing or holding a degree relevant to your teaching subject(s).
You have achieved exceptional results in your teaching subject(s), such as Grade 9/A* at IGCSE, A* at A-Level/IAL or Level 7 at IBDP.
Applicants with particularly strong academic profiles will be prioritised.
You have a strong understanding of at least one relevant curriculum and are confident guiding students through:
Syllabus requirements and core topics
Examination formats and question types
Mark schemes and assessment objectives
Past-paper practice, examination techniques and revision strategies
Familiarity with Cambridge, Edexcel, AQA and/or OCR is highly desirable.
3. Teaching Skills and Experience
Previous teaching or tutoring experience at secondary-school level is strongly preferred. You can:
Explain complex concepts clearly and systematically
Adapt lessons to students’ abilities and learning needs
Identify learning gaps and provide targeted support
Mark assignments and past papers thoroughly, with specific, actionable feedback
Help students develop the knowledge, confidence and examination skills needed to achieve top grades
You have excellent spoken and written English and can teach lessons entirely in English, including explaining complex concepts and examination techniques.
5. Consistent Availability and Commitment
Full-time tutors should be available for a regular weekly teaching schedule, primarily on weekday afternoons and evenings. Some weekend teaching may be required, depending on student demand.
Part-time tutors should offer consistent weekly availability throughout the academic term. Preference will be given to applicants available on weekday evenings and/or weekends.
Reliability and continuity are essential, as many students attend weekly lessons over the long term.
The following would strengthen your application:
Cantonese and/or Mandarin: Ability to explain academic concepts in either language alongside English.
Multiple subjects or curricula: Confidence teaching across curricula or subject combinations such as Biology and Chemistry, and Psychology and Biology etc.
Proven examination results: A track record of helping students achieve A*, Grade 9 or Level 7.
International school experience: Experience teaching students from international schools, ESF schools or UK boarding schools.
Academic writing and coursework support: Strong writing skills and experience guiding students in Psychology essays, IBDP Internal Assessments, Extended Essays or other coursework.
University application support: Experience helping students develop personal statements and application essays. Additional teaching opportunities may be available for tutors with these skills.
Weekend availability: Regular availability on Saturdays and/or Sundays.
