Job summary

Ambition in Hong Kong is seeking a Backend Engineer to design, scale, and maintain cloud-native banking services. You will work in small cross-functional teams focusing on delivery, robust architecture, and production excellence.

Responsibilities include building scalable microservices with Kotlin or Java, implementing event-driven architectures with Kafka, and deploying on AWS with container orchestration. You will own tests, CI/CD, and incident response to ensure uptime and security.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Develop event-driven systems using event streams (e.g., Kafka) and relational databases.
• Deploy services via container orchestration on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) with a DevOps mindset.
• Write clean, testable code with strong unit/integration test coverage and manage CI/CD pipelines.
• Monitor live systems, respond to incidents, and ensure security and uptime.
