Job summary

HKEX is seeking a capable data professional to join the Data Business department as the key data partner for the index product. You will ensure access to sufficient, accurate data to support ideation, back-testing and regular index review and rebalancing activities, and work with multiple teams to deliver scalable data solutions.

The role requires hands-on data collection, cleansing, transformation, and strong proficiency in Python, SQL, VBA and Excel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
• 3+ years of experience in market/financial data, index/data business, or related fields.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, VBA and Excel formulas.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate, timely market and financial data for index ideation, back-testing, and rebalancing activities.
• Collect, cleanse, classify and transform data from internal and external sources.
• Collaborate with IT, Research, Sales and Operations to deliver data solutions.
• Organize datasets and documentation for scalable data consumption.
• Perform data quality checks and validations to identify and resolve issues.

Job Duties:

To be successful in this role you will leverage your domain expertise and passion for the industry to:

Responsibilities:

• - Ensure sufficient, accurate and timely market and financial data to support index ideation, back-testing, and regular index review and rebalancing activities.
• - Collect, cleanse, classify and transform market, reference and financial data from internal and external sources.
• - Work closely with internal teams to understand their data needs and existing challenges, and deliver practical data solutions.
• - Organize and maintain well-structured datasets and supporting documentation to ensure data can be consumed effectively.
• - Perform data quality control, including validation checks and reconciliations, to ensure timely identification and resolution of data issues.
• - Develop data processing and validation tools to make data operations more efficient and scalable.
• - Leverage strengths as a team player to collaborate across various functions including IT, Research, Sales and Operations to ensure execution of index development projects.

Requirements:

• - Relevant university degree or equivalent.
• - 3+ years of experience in market/financial data, index/data business, or relevant fields.
• - Demonstrate good understanding of market and financial data.
• - Hands-on experience in data collection, cleansing, classification and transformation.
• - Proficiency in Python, SQL, VBA and Excel formulas.
• - Exposure on Hong Kong and China equity market is a plus.
• - Detail-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.
• - Strong collaboration, interpersonal and communication skills.
• - Proficiency in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
