Job summary

HKEX Technology (Shenzhen) Limited is seeking a senior index professional to shape the index product and lead strategy execution across governance and project delivery.

You will analyze datasets, coordinate with multiple teams, and implement process enhancements to deliver differentiated index products for HKEX and its markets.

Qualifications

• Relevant university degree or equivalent.
• 7+ years in financial markets; experience from Index/ETF businesses, asset management or quantitative research preferred.
• Proficiency in programming languages and tools, and familiarity with third party vendor products.
• Experience with HK/China/APAC financial markets and investment strategies.
• Index research and/or maintenance experience.
• Self-starter with entrepreneurial and innovative mindset and high agility.
• Strong analytical, collaboration, interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular index reviews and ad hoc index adjustments per methodologies and governance.
• Manage and analyse datasets for index reviews; resolve data discrepancies with internal teams and vendors.
• Monitor market developments, corporate actions and issuer disclosures and assess impact on index eligibility.
• Prepare supporting documentation and presentation materials for governance discussions.
• Collaborate with multiple teams and vendors to ensure timely index changes.
• Identify and implement enhancements to index review processes, data controls and automation.

This newly form team will be responsible for delivering differentiating index products that align with the strategy of the business and the exchange as a whole. We are looking for a high caliber and motivated individual to join our team with responsibility spanning across strategy execution and project implementation.

Job Duties:

To be successful in this role you will leverage your domain expertise and passion for the industry to:

Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular index reviews and ad hoc index adjustments in accordance with established index methodologies and index governance requirements.


• Manage and analyse datasets required for index reviews and maintenance, investigate data exceptions and discrepancies, and work with internal teams and external data vendors to resolve index-related issues.


• Monitor and analyse market developments, corporate actions and issuer disclosures, and assess their impact on index eligibility, classification and treatment.


• Prepare supporting documentation and presentation materials of index reviews for governance discussions and stakeholder communications.


• Collaborate with multiple teams and vendors to ensure the accurate and timely announcement and implementation of index changes.


• Identify and implement enhancements to index review processes, data controls and workflow automation to improve efficiency, scalability and robustness.

Requirements:

• Relevant university degree or equivalent.


• 7+ years of experience in financial markets, experience from Index/ETF businesses, asset management or quantitative research is preferable.


• Demonstrate deep understanding of relevant programming languages and tools, third party vendor products.


• Exposure on Hong Kong, China and APAC financial market, good understanding of investment strategies and portfolio construction.


• Index Research and/or Maintenance experience.


• A self-starter with an entrepreneurial and innovative mindset and high agility.


• Strong analytical, collaboration, interpersonal and presentation skills.


• Proficiency in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
