Job summary

HKEX is seeking a high-caliber data professional to join the Data Business department and play a significant role in shaping the index product, a growth area within the group. The team will deliver differentiating index products that align with the business and the exchange strategy.

You will contribute to strategy execution and project implementation, collaborating with internal teams and external data vendors to ensure timely index changes and robust governance.

Qualifications

• Relevant university degree or equivalent.
• 7+ years of experience in financial markets, preferably in Index/ETF businesses, asset management or quantitative research.
• Demonstrate deep understanding of relevant programming languages and tools, third party vendor products.
• Exposure to Hong Kong, China and APAC financial markets, good understanding of investment strategies and portfolio construction.
• Index Research and/or Maintenance experience.
• A self-starter with an entrepreneurial and innovative mindset and high agility.
• Strong analytical, collaboration, interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular index reviews and ad hoc index adjustments in accordance with established index methodologies and index governance requirements.
• Manage and analyse datasets required for index reviews and maintenance, investigate data exceptions and discrepancies, and work with internal teams and external data vendors to resolve index-related issues.
• Monitor and analyse market developments, corporate actions and issuer disclosures, and assess their impact on index eligibility, classification and treatment.
• Prepare supporting documentation and presentation materials of index reviews for governance discussions and stakeholder communications.
• Collaborate with multiple teams and vendors to ensure the accurate and timely announcement and implementation of index changes.
• Identify and implement enhancements to index review processes, data controls and workflow automation to improve efficiency, scalability and robustness.
