Job summary

HSBC is seeking a capable Associate for Hong Kong Coverage in Capital Markets and Advisory. You will work with senior bankers to originate and execute IPOs and M&A, build robust financial models, and conduct market research. You will prepare presentations, interact with clients and management, and contribute to revenue and strategy targets.

The role also involves mentoring junior staff and supporting deal execution in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• 2–6 years of Investment Banking/Corporate Finance experience.
• Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
• Knowledge of financial modelling, valuation and accounting.
• Understanding of the financial markets.
• Experience in equity, equity-linked, and private market M&A transaction execution and origination.
• Highly motivated and eager to learn new capabilities.

In This Role You Will

• Work with senior investment banking officers and professionals in originating and executing IPO, M&A and other equity/equity-linked transactions
• Develop company valuations and create/analyse financial models, perform detailed sector and company research as directed, as well as conduct financing, comparative and pro forma analyses
• Prepare new business presentations, draft memoranda related to marketing and execution, conduct fundamental industry research and quantitative analyses, and attend client presentations as required
• Interact with clients and various levels of management; act as an integral part of the engagement team
• Contribute to the achievement against targets for revenue generation, product alignment, customer satisfaction etc.
• Lead and mentor junior investment banking talent

To Be Successful You Will Need

• Two to six years of Investment Banking/Corporate Finance experience
• Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
• Knowledge of financial modelling, valuation and accounting
• A strong understanding of the financial markets
• Strong experience in equity, equity-linked, and Takeovers Code, and private market M&A transaction execution and origination
• Highly motivated, demonstrates a commitment to learning new capabilities and proactively seeks more or different assignments to accelerate learning
• Fluency in Cantonese and English, fluency in Mandarin is a plus
