IT Channel (Asia) Limited, headquartered in Hong Kong, seeks a Data Analyst to analyse data, develop insights and enable data-driven decision-making on the enterprise data platform.
You will work with business stakeholders, data modellers, data engineers and governance teams to deliver accurate analytics outputs and trusted data products using SQL, Tableau, Power BI and Qlik.
The incumbent, Data Analyst, Chief Data Office of the Information Technology Division, is an important role for analysing data, developing insights, supporting analytics use cases and enabling data-driven decision-making on the enterprise data platform.
Job Duties
The Data Analyst is responsible for analysing data requirements, preparing analytical datasets, performing data profiling and delivering reporting, dashboarding and insight generation activities for data initiatives under the CDO. Key duties focus on working with business stakeholders, business analysts, data modellers, data engineers and data owners to understand business questions, validate data definitions, assess data quality, develop analysis outputs and support the adoption of trusted data products. The role requires strong analytical capability, good understanding of data structures and business processes, and practical experience with SQL, reporting tools and data visualisation techniques to deliver accurate, explainable and reusable analytics outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with business stakeholders, business analysts, data modellers and data engineers to understand analytics requirements, business questions, data definitions and expected outcomes.
Perform data profiling, data exploration and data validation to assess data availability, completeness, consistency and fitness for reporting, analytics and data product consumption.
Prepare analytical datasets, data extracts, queries, transformation logic and calculation rules to support dashboards, reports, analysis packs and business insight generation.
Develop, maintain and enhance reports, dashboards and visualisation outputs using approved analytics and business intelligence tools.
Validate data outputs against business rules, source records and agreed acceptance criteria, and support issue investigation where data discrepancies or quality concerns are identified.
Document data definitions, metric calculations, analytical assumptions, reconciliation logic and usage guidance to support transparency, reuse and controlled consumption of data assets.
Support user acceptance testing, business verification and adoption activities by preparing sample outputs, test evidence, walkthrough materials and issue logs.
Assist in legacy remediation, manual file remediation and migration initiatives by analysing existing reports, spreadsheets, data flows and end-user computing processes.
Collaborate with data governance, data quality and access control stakeholders to ensure analytical outputs are aligned with agreed definitions, ownership and control expectations.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, statistics, information systems, computer science, business, finance, technology or related disciplines.
5 or more years of working experience as a Data Analyst, Business Intelligence Analyst, Reporting Analyst or similar analytics role, preferably supporting data, analytics, regulatory reporting, transformation or enterprise platform initiatives in large organisations. AVP-grade position will require stronger analytical leadership, stakeholder management and delivery experience.
Strong hands‑on experience in SQL, data profiling, data validation, data reconciliation and preparation of analytical datasets.
Experience in developing reports, dashboards and visualisation outputs using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, Excel or equivalent analytics platforms.
Good understanding of data lifecycle concepts, including data sourcing, data definitions, data transformation, data quality, metadata, lineage, access control and data consumption.
Ability to interpret business processes, analyse data issues, challenge assumptions and translate business questions into clear analytical outputs and actionable insights.
Experience in preparing data dictionaries, metric definitions, calculation logic, analysis notes, user guidance and supporting documentation for data products and reports.
Knowledge of financial services, exchange, market data, risk, finance, operations, regulatory reporting or enterprise data management domains will be an advantage.
Familiarity with data governance, data quality, data privacy, access control and operational control requirements in regulated environments.
Good communication, facilitation and documentation skills, with ability to work independently with business users, data owners and technical delivery teams.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple analysis tasks, issues, data clarifications and stakeholder dependencies in a fast‑paced programme environment.
Experience with collaboration, workflow or project delivery tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, SharePoint or equivalent tools is preferred.
Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to coordinate analysis activities across business, technology, governance and programme stakeholders.
Excellent influencing skills with good command of written and spoken Cantonese, Mandarin and English.
