The Data Modeller is a key role within the of the Chief Data Office (CDO). The role is responsible for translating business requirements, data governance expectations and analytical use cases into clear conceptual, logical and physical data models for the Enterprise Data Platform. The Data Modeller will work closely with data architects, data analytics engineers, business analysts and data owners to design consistent, reusable and well-documented data structures that support data ingestion, transformation, reporting, analytics and controlled data consumption across the company.
Key Responsibilities:
Engage business stakeholders, data owners and technical teams to understand data requirements and translate them into conceptual, logical and physical data models
Define and maintain consistent data entities, attributes, relationships, hierarchies and business definitions to support enterprise-wide data reuse and reporting consistency
Develop and maintain data models for the Enterprise Data Platform, covering staging, curated, consumption and analytics layers where applicable
Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure data models are implemented effectively in data pipelines, data warehouses, data marts and analytical datasets
Establish and apply data modelling standards, naming conventions, data dictionaries and metadata documentation to improve data consistency, traceability and maintainability
Support data quality, lineage, access control and governance requirements by embedding appropriate controls and definitions into data model design
Review source system structures, existing data flows and legacy data assets to identify modelling gaps, duplication, inconsistency and remediation opportunities
Provide modelling guidance to project teams and maintain documentation that enables business and technical users to understand, validate and reuse data assets effectively
Requirements:
University graduates with strong technical experiences in data technologies and data initiatives
At least 10 years of experience in data management, data warehousing, analytics or data engineering, with strong hands-on experience in data modelling for enterprise or large-scale data platforms
Strong experience in conceptual, logical and physical data modelling, including entity relationship modelling, dimensional modelling and data warehouse design
Proficiency in data modelling tools and techniques, with ability to maintain data dictionaries, metadata repositories and model documentation
Strong understanding of relational databases, data warehouses, big data platforms and analytics consumption patterns, including SQL and data structure optimisation
Experience in supporting data governance, data quality, data lineage, metadata management and data access control requirements through effective data model design
Good communication skills with the ability to explain data model design, definitions and trade-offs to business users, data programme teams and technical delivery teams
Conversant with data modelling best practices, evolving data platform technologies and modern analytics use cases, including AI and machine learning data requirements
