Job summary

Sun Life in Hong Kong is seeking an Underwriter (Individual) to assess medical cases within authorization limits and ensure compliance with policies and procedures. You will support sellers and review underwriters' outputs while providing second approvals where needed.

Strong medical knowledge and PC skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) are essential, along with fluent English and Chinese and a customer‑oriented mindset that fits Sun Life’s inclusive, high‑performing culture.

Qualifications

• University degree holder.
• Solid medical knowledge (anatomy, physiology, disease) and terminology.
• Proficient PC skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access.

Responsibilities

• Perform risk assessment of medical case up to the specified authorization limit.
• Ensure new business tasks comply with the Company’s New Business Policy & Procedures, and Underwriting Guideline and Rule Book and service pledge.
• Provide sellers’ enquiries supports.
• Review Underwriters’ works if required.
• Provide second approval of referred application from Underwriters.
• Assist Team Leader or Managers to track applications and produce monitoring reports.
• Handle ad-hoc assignments.

Job Description

• Perform risk assessment of medical case up to the specified authorization limit.

Qualification & Preferred Skills

• University degree holder.
• Competent knowledge of medical aspects (anatomy, physiology, disease, medical abbreviations & terminology, lab tests etc.).
• Uphold substandard medical underwriting authority.
• Competent knowledge of financial & medical underwriting.
• Competent PC knowledge, includes Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access.
• Good spoken and written English and Chinese communication skills.
• Customer oriented mindset.
