Job summary

Mass Transit Railway in Hong Kong is looking for an Assistant Manager - IT Operations to lead and coordinate data centre initiatives and production control activities. You will oversee BRS infrastructure, job management tools, and monitoring platforms, while ensuring disaster recovery drills and ISO audits are properly conducted.

The role requires a degree in IT/IS/CS, 5+ years of relevant experience including supervisory exposure, and certifications such as CDCE or CDFOMM with ISO 9001 auditing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology / Information Systems / Computer Science or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 1 year in supervision.
• Professional certifications such as CDCE or CDFOMM and ISO 9001 internal auditor.
• Experience with data centre technologies: NetBackup, OceanProtect, Veeam for M365 backup, Control-M, SolarWinds, SCOM, PowerShell.

Responsibilities

Assistant Manager - IT Operations (Ref: 260000Y1)

Responsibilities

• Drive Data Centre projects and initiatives including data centre facilities upgrade/improvement and colocation improvement
• Lead a team to the drive operational efficiency and automation for Production Control Unit (PCU) team, while overseeing BRS (Backup & Recovery System) infrastructure (e.g. NetBackup, Veeam, OceanProtect), job management tools (e.g. Control-M), Enterprise Systems Monitoring platforms (e.g. SCOM, SolarWinds), and BCP/DR activities including disaster recovery drills, testing and coordination
• Manage contractor operations of MTR and colocation Data Centres, ensuring KPI delivery, operational efficiency, risk mitigation, compliance with data centre standards, policies and operational guidelines, and coordination of ISO 9001, ISO 27001, internal/external audits, and fixed asset audits
• Serve as the focal point for Data Centre operations, coordinating power maintenance, emergency incidents, asset inventory and support contracts, and capacity planning for space, power, and environmental requirements

Requirements

• Degree in Information Technology / Information Systems / Computer Science or a related discipline
• A minimum of 5 years' relevant experience, of which at least 1 year should be at supervisory level in leading a medium-sized team to support sizeable infrastructure and data centre operation
• Possession of certificates such as Certified Data Center Expert (CDCE) or equivalent, Certified Data Centre Facilities Operations Manager (CDFOMM) or equivalent and ISO 9001 internal auditor
• Experience in supporting the following technologies and platforms:
  • NetBackup v10.5 or above
  • OceanProtect
  • Veeam for M365 backup
  • Control-M

  • Microsoft SCOM
  • PowerShell
• Self-motivated team player with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of working independently under pressure, collaborating across teams, and delivering KPIs and deadlines
• Proficient in technical writing and communication in English and Chinese (preferably including Putonghua), with strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills to engage technical, management, and customer stakeholders
