Job summary

WeLab in Hong Kong is seeking an experienced Data Scientist / ML Engineer to design and deploy predictive models for banking products. You will analyze large datasets, perform feature engineering, and push models into production with MLOps practices.

Experience with Generative AI, NLP, and cloud ML platforms is highly valued. The role offers opportunities to collaborate with Product, Marketing, Risk and other teams, delivering data-driven solutions that impact business outcomes.

Qualifications

• Degree in a quantitative field (CS/DS/Math).
• 3–5 years of hands-on data science or ML experience.
• Experience in banking/fintech is a plus (credit scoring, fraud, pricing).
• Strong Python and SQL skills with ML frameworks.
• Experience w/ big data processing and cloud ML platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance predictive models and pricing solutions.
• Analyze large datasets to improve model performance and outcomes.
• Deploy ML models in production and support MLOps practices.
• Explore Generative AI and NLP—LLMs, sentiment analyses, automation.
• Feature engineering, model tuning, validation, and fairness checks.
• Collaborate with Product/Marketing/Risk to translate needs into data solutions.
• Build dashboards to communicate model results and insights.
