Overview
We are looking for an Assistant General Manager – Information Technology to join our Digital & IT department. You will lead the company’s IT infrastructure, operations, and cloud services in Hong Kong, ensuring secure, reliable, and cost-effective delivery of mission-critical systems. You will partner with business stakeholders to define IT strategies, drive system enhancements, and support business growth and operational efficiency, while providing strategic direction and hands-on support to information security, positioning IT as a business-aligned, value-driving function.
Responsibilities
- Infrastructure, Operations & Cloud Management: Service delivery and reliability including infrastructure provisioning, disaster recovery, monitoring, and incident management to ensure compliance and business continuity.
- Oversee roadmap, timeframes and budgets for major IT projects including systems implementation, updates, upgrades and migrations.
- Hybrid and multi-cloud stewardship: Manage integration, security, and optimization of on-premises and cloud infrastructure (IaaS/PaaS), maintaining visibility and control across platforms while supporting the organisation's digital transformation.
- Lead digital transformation initiatives, implement viable technologies, and design system flows with a user-centric approach; promote scalability, maintainability, and performance.
- Define IT plans, architecture, policies, standards, and budgets aligned with evolving business needs.
- Cost and performance optimization: Improve infrastructure efficiency, optimize cloud spend and resource use; implement automation and AI to enhance agility.
Strategic Leadership & Business Alignment
- Business advisory: Serve as the primary tech advisor; translate business priorities into infrastructure and operations initiatives; secure executive buy-in.
- Stakeholder and project management: Engage stakeholders, users, and vendors to resolve issues; review and coordinate project plans and implementations.
- Innovation and product mindset: Align pilots and cloud initiatives with measurable business value.
- Vendor and managed services: Leverage CSPs/MSPs to extend capabilities; manage vendors with focus on knowledge transfer, skills retention, and service quality.
Cybersecurity Support & Collaboration
- Work with the cybersecurity team to embed security controls, monitoring, and threat preparedness into infrastructure design and operations; ensure compliance and disaster recovery capabilities are aligned with security requirements.
Organisational Leadership
- Team motivation and staffing: Build, engage, and retain high-performing teams in competitive markets; drive resilience and adaptability amid constant change.
- Talent development and retention: Develop scalable training programs and clear career paths with defined competency frameworks.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science or related disciplines (First Degree).
- Infrastructure & Operations Leadership: 15+ years in IT infrastructure, operations, or cloud services management; 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
- Hybrid & Multi-cloud Management: Demonstrated experience managing hybrid cloud or multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Ali Cloud, or equivalent); proven track record in infrastructure modernization or cloud migration programs.
- Business Acumen: Experience translating business strategy into IT service delivery; background in service-optimized or product-centric IT operating models.
- Team Leadership: Proven ability to build, mentor, and retain teams; experience navigating staffing challenges and driving organisational change.
- Experience with Chinese mainland operations and multi-cultural environments preferred.
