Job summary

AIA in Hong Kong seeks an experienced AS/400 OS specialist to lead strategic planning and hands-on management of AS/400 systems. You will oversee deployment, configuration, and security, ensuring high availability and performance while aligning with business goals.

The role requires 7+ years in IT with at least 3 years in a managerial capacity across regional scope, deep knowledge of CL, RPG, DB2, and IBM i, and a track record of modernization and cloud integration.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant IT experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role across a regional scope.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related discipline.
• Extensive knowledge of IBM AS/400 (iSeries) OS incl. OS/400 and IBM i.
• Strong understanding of AS/400 architecture, CL programming, RPG, DB2, and admin tools.
• Experience modernizing/integrating AS/400 with cloud or hybrid environments is a plus.
• Relevant certifications such as IBM Certified System Administrator – AS/400 or equivalent is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Planning and Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive AS/400 OS strategy, lead a team for high performance.
• AS/400 OS Management: Oversee deployment, configuration, and maintenance of AS/400 systems, ensuring stability and security.
• Incident & Problem Management: Serve as first escalation for complex AS/400 issues and perform root-cause analysis.
• Patch & Update Management: Develop and enforce patch policies for up-to-date AS/400 systems.
• Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor AS/400 performance, analyze trends, and present reports to senior leadership.
• Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Evaluate and implement AS/400 tools and manage third-party relationships.
• Budget & Resource Management: Develop and manage related budgets and allocate resources effectively.
