Job summary

Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) seeks skilled IT professionals for its AI technology group within the Enterprise Architecture & Technology team at ITSO. You will design and develop AI solutions (chatbots, agents, RAG workflows) and ensure secure, compliant ML operations.

The role emphasizes adopting AI across IT processes and managing end-to-end AI projects in a higher education setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems or equivalent.
• Proficiency with leading frontier and open-weight AI models.
• Proficiency in Python and AI frameworks such as PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers, LangChain, or similar.
• Experience deploying open-weight models in on-premises environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience using MLflow, Kubeflow, or similar tools to manage end-to-end model fine-tuning lifecycle.
• Experience in an Agile and DevOps environment.
• Strong English and Chinese communication, analytical and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop AI solutions and applications, including chatbots, agents, RAG workflows, and ML systems.
• Ensure performance, security and compliance in ML/LLM operations.
• Drive adoption and integration of AI across IT processes to streamline workflows.
• Oversee end-to-end AI project management and develop system implementation documents.
• Stay updated on emerging AI technologies and best practices for higher education.
