Job summary

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Library seeks a Digital Strategies professional to advance responsible AI adoption across learning, research, and operations. The role translates digital efforts into services, focusing on generative AI and agentic approaches to enhance workflows and automation.

You will design AI workflows, support services, and internal capability building while ensuring ethical, secure, and compliant use of AI across library functions.

Qualifications

• A master's degree in library and information science or related field with 2+ years post-qualification experience.
• Strong understanding of generative AI and hands-on familiarity with current AI tools and platforms.
• Knowledge of ethical, legal, and social implications of AI including privacy and copyright/IP.
• Demonstrated service development, project leadership, and cross-unit collaboration experience.
• Experience in digital scholarship, library data/analytics, or AI services.
• Excellent written and spoken English and Chinese communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, pilot, and integrate generative-AI workflows and lightweight automations to enhance library processes.
• Develop AI-powered discovery and research-support services with evaluation guardrails and QA.
• Build internal AI capability: staff training, practical guides, and hands-on support.
• Evaluate and prioritize AI tools with privacy, security, and licensing considerations.
• Advance digital scholarship and digital preservation with faculty and colleagues.
• Monitor AI/digital-library developments and contribute to library-wide projects as needed.
