Qualifications

• Final year students or recent graduates (within 2 years of graduation) with a bachelor's degree or higher. Digital / IT-related degree would be an advantage.
• Hong Kong: Must have the right to work in Hong Kong. TTPS and IANG accepted; GBA: open to travel and local authorisation.
• Strong academic performance.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English; GBA requires English and Putonghua.
• Excellent problem-solving and influencing skills, with business acumen.

Responsibilities

• Develop understanding of Cathay’s Digital & IT Department: purpose, structure, strategy, values and drivers.
• Acquire knowledge across IT and Digital teams including Solution Centre, Infrastructure & Security, and Data Analytics.
• Build exposure to core airline systems and applications development, infrastructure, digital initiatives and analytics.
• Apply technical best practices and governance frameworks to support digital initiatives.
• Contribute innovative ideas and leverage emerging technologies for competitive advantage.
• Take ownership of organising Cathay Hackathon end-to-end, including planning, communications, logistics, and leading a junior team.

Purpose

Digital & IT Graduate Trainee Programme is designed to provide trainees with a concrete professional foundation through rotations across core Information Technology (IT) and Digital disciplines in our Hong Kong headquarters and the Greater Bay Area (GBA).

Through a well-defined development framework, trainees will gain hands‑on experience, build industry knowledge, and develop the skills needed to deliver innovative solutions that drive competitive advantage.

Programme Tracks and Career Path
The programme offers two distinct tracks:

Hong Kong – Based in Cathay’s Hong Kong headquarters, with graduates continuing their long‑term careers in Hong Kong during and upon programme completion. The employment relationship will be with Cathay Pacific Airways Hong Kong.

GBA – Based in the Greater Bay Area office, with graduates developing their long‑term careers in the GBA during and after the programme. The employment relationship will be established with our GBA office.

During the programme, trainees in both tracks will still have opportunities to rotate across offices in Hong Kong and the GBA to gain broader exposure and experience. Candidates should apply with a clear preference, and final placement will be aligned with business needs and confirmed during the recruitment process.
